A Yolŋu worldview
Dr R. Marika explains how the Yolŋu people of northeast Arnhemland have their own way of understanding their world...
|In the Yolŋu worldview
there are two moieties. One is Yirritja and the other one is Dhuwa.
They are two halves of one whole. So everything in the world is
holistic. The knowledge and the worldview is all interconnected.
Like art is connected through to songs, the songs are connected
to the people and the people is, their connection is through song
lines, stories, from stories to art, art to country and land -
through clans, through totems - everything in our world is linked.
