Jodi Stewart

Well I’m Jodie Stewart, I was born in 1964 at Kiama in Birrilee District Hospital, and raised in Gerringong all my life. I did move away, for several years, but I did come back. I was called to come back home and that’s when I lost my father, a couple years after. As I grew up here in Gerringong, I went to Gerringong Public School and then I moved up to Kiama High School, left there, then I got a job and moved to Sydney, coming back into the area. I went to TAFE at Bomoderry and at the Bomoderry United Homes for several years to learn more knowledge and a bit more culture, about arts and crafts. And then I just picked up my own skills and started to paint. A lot of my artwork now, I paint now, and always have painted, is related to the sea, and how the sea has fed us, how the sea has looked after us – because that’s how we survived.
